Barbara Howe is running for governor of North Carolina for
the Libertarian Party. She has several links on her website to various social
media sites. She is well connected and
updates her blog frequently.She has utilized Web2.0 effectively in her campaign. Her target audience is the libertarian party. She is very low-key as her video,
albeit sincere. She is not polished, which for some has its own appeal. Her
use of Web 2.0 is has been effective. She is a very down to earth person and that comes across in her use of Web 2.0. As an older candidate she also relies on
person to person contact. She views this as an integral part of who she is.
This is demonstrated by her effort to literally run 5K (3.1 miles) races in
every county of NC. This will be a total of 100 races. I believe she runs the races to show she
really cares about all people, not just those that live in the more affluent
counties of the state. As of today she
is still running the 5K races although I was not able to find how many she has
completed. She does let her followers know about her upcoming races. It appears
she runs 4 to 5 races per week. Her 100th race will be in Raleigh on
November 4, 2012.
